SUNRISE EDUCATIONAL COURSE
MRS - Metabolite Profiling & Metabolism
ORGANIZERS: Kevin M. Brindle, D.Phil. & Ivan Tkac, Ph.D.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
Tuesday - Friday, 10-13 May 2011

OVERVIEW
This four-hour course will be focused on new methodologies of advanced MRS. The goals of the course are to demonstrate:
« Potentials of high field MRS for neuroscience and cancer research and clinical diagnostics;
« The strength of metabolite profiling by advanced MRS for disease diagnosis and treatment; and
« The potentials of imaging cancer metabolism using hyperpolarized substances.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:
« Evaluate advantages and potentials of MRS at very high fields;
« Identify problems and challenges of high field MRS;
« Define neurochemical profiles detectable by MRS in different tissues;
« Describe specificity of MRS in cancer applications;
« Explain the current potential of MRS using hyperpolarized substances; and
« Evaluate current challenges and potentials of clinical MRS.
