Joint Annual Meeting ISMRM-ESMRMB 2014 10-16 May 2014 Milan, Italy

SUNRISE EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Post-Treatment Brain Evaluation
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
ORGANIZERS: Meng Law, M.D., M.B.B.S., FRACR  & Greg Zaharchuk, M.D., Ph.D.
Thursday, 15 May 2014

OVERVIEW
The assessment of the post-treatment brain has become increasingly complex in the era of combined therapies including radiation, chemotherapy, and new anti-angigenic agents. Optimal clinical interpretation needs to consider molecular features and timing after treatment to assess the likelihood of pseudophenomena.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Radiologists, oncologists, scientists, and physicists interested in learning how to integrate advanced MRI techniques into the assessment of patients who have been treated for brain tumors.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Distinguish MRI pseudoprogression and pseudoresponse from true tumor activity; and
  • Assess the role of perfusion, permeability, and diffusion techniques in the post-treatment brain.
