OVERVIEW

The course will provide an in-depth discussion of common injuries sustained by professional athletes. Each lecture will focus on a specific anatomic region and will discuss the biomechanical stresses associated with high-level sports activities and the clinical and pathophysiologic features of injuries to professional athletes. The lectures will also review the use of conventional and emerging MRI techniques for evaluating musculoskeletal pain in professional athletes.

 
TARGET AUDIENCE
“MRI of the Professional Athlete” is designed for radiologists and clinical care providers who wish to update their knowledge on the use of MRI for diagnosing injuries in professional athletes.
 
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify clinical and pathophysiologic features of injuries to professional athletes;
  • Recognize the biomechanical stresses applied to the body of professional athletes;
  • Improve their use of MRI for evaluating injuries to professional athletes; and
  • Implement emerging MRI techniques for evaluating professional athletes.
