WEEKEND EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Body MRI: How We Do It
SKILL LEVEL: Basic to Intermediate
ORGANIZERS: John P. Mugler, III, Ph.D., Ivan Pedrosa, M.D., Scott B. Reeder, M.D., Ph.D., & Shreyas S. Vasanawala, M.D., Ph.D.
Sunday, 11 May 2014 (08:30 - 17:00)

OVERVIEW
This one-day course focuses on the impact of continuing innovations in magnetic-resonance technology on clinical MRI of the body. The program includes detailed didactic-interactive lectures using audience response technology as well as case-based presentations. Following technique-based lectures, comprehensive lectures the on liver, pancreas, and pelvis will be given. The course is patient focused and considers the potential impact of MRI in individualized patient care.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is aimed at radiologists who wish to incorporate the use of MR into their practice and to learn how evolving body MRI techniques aid in clinical problem solving and impact individualized patient care. The course content will also be of interest to MR technologists and clinical support scientists involved in body MRI.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Categorize and select the appropriate basic strategies for body MRI/MRA including commonly used contrast agents;
  • Demonstrate the utility of MRI to detect and characterize focal liver lesions in both the cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic liver;
  • Illustrate new MRI methods for detection and quantification of diffuse liver disease;
  • Convey the role of MRI in the management of malignant and non-malignant disease of the female pelvis;
  • Assess the role of MRI for imaging the prostate; and
  • Employ MRI and MRCP in the diagnosis and management of cystic lesions of the pancreas.
