Spotlight on ISMRM Online Education

We are happy to announce a new online learning system, provided free to members for both ISMRM and SMRT Education. This new website, developed and maintained by the ISMRM, offers members the ability to track attendance and evaluate events like the ISMRM and SMRT Annual Meetings, store and save copies of credit certificates issued for Society activities, and engage in new learning opportunities through a Catalog of new online courses.  This is a milestone marking years of development from both organizations and is offered as part of your member benefits through a strategic partnership with Learning Management software developer DigitalIgnite. All users can keep track of their learning history and customize searches for new courses based on content area, Society membership or CE credit offered.

The ISMRM is currently offering five courses free to members, and many more are in development. Members can login and begin learning today.

CME and SA-CME offerings

The ISMRM is also announcing our first online CME-certified educational course: Hepatobiliary Contrast Agents developed by Drs. Scott Reeder and Shahid Hussain.  Developed for radiologists, MR technologists, and researchers working in Body MRI, this course is designed to improve the ability to use and apply currently available FDA-approved gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs).   Our new online system allows courses to offer instantly-scored pre and post-tests, allowing learners to determine if content is right for them. Embedded videos, captured at well-received ISMRM Annual Meetings, provide content and the entire package is certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, and meets the criteria for SA-CME from the American Board of Radiology’s Maintenance of Certification requirements.

Physics for Physicists

This well-reviewed session from the 2013 Annual Meeting has been turned into a four part series of courses. Available to ISMRM members, this offering includes 14 videos centered on NMR physics and electromagnetic fields in MRI.  Over 570 delegates attended this session in Salt Lake City, and the vast majority indicated that the course enhanced their skills, abilities or provided strategies that they can implement into their research. We wanted to expand the ability for quality education like this to make a difference and hope that anyone of our members unable to attend the 21st Annual Meeting will go online today to see what was missed.

SMRT Home Studies

SMRT Video Home Studies from Salt Lake City, UT, USA are now online and Educational Seminars are being transitioned to this new system.

The new system offers SMRT members:

·       Instant scoring of their exams (no more mailing hardcopies to the home office!)

·       A record of what each member has completed in the system

·       The ability to re-print certificates with ARRT reference numbers for your biennium

More Home Studies, including the brand new Volume 16, Number 3: “MR Imaging Near Metal Implants”, are being added every week. SMRT members should check back often for new listings.
