Postdoctoral researcher
Development and application of MRI methodologies in experimental
stroke models
The position:
You will take part in a large European research program on
neurovascular changes after stroke. Your task will be to develop and
apply MRI acquisition and analysis methods to assess brain
microvasculature (i.e. perfusion, angiogenesis, blood-brain barrier
integrity and inflammation) in animal stroke models. You will
closely interact with various other researchers that participate in
the European Stroke Network.
The European Stroke Network is a
large-scale collaborative effort between experimental and clinical
stroke research teams in Europe that aims to improve prevention and
treatment of stroke. The European Stroke Network brings together
researchers, government, industry, the non-profit sector and patient
groups from 19 European countries to put Europe at the forefront of
stroke research through its multi-disciplinary research program,
high-quality training for European scientists and clinicians, and
national and global partnerships.
Your profile:
You will have a Ph.D. degree in physics, biomedical
engineering/technology, or a related field, and significant
experience in MRI research. Pulse programming experience is strongly
preferred. You are able to work independently and are also able to
manage multidisciplinary research within a team.
Our organization:
The Biomedical MR Imaging and Spectroscopy group of the Image
Sciences Institute at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the
Netherlands is a multidisciplinary team of physicists, chemists,
biologists, and physicians with access to two state-of-the-art
horizontal-bore animal MR systems at 4.7 T and 9.4 T (Varian, Inc.).
The group has an established research program on multi-parametric,
pre-clinical MRI in animal models, with a particular focus on
application of MR techniques to study neurological disorders.
We offer:
A temporary 80% to full-time appointment for 2-4 years. The salary
scale will be based on years of experience.
