Postdoctoral Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Imaging and Spectroscopic Physics Laboratory in the Department of Medical Physics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The position will entail performing MR spectroscopy studies in humans for the investigation of cancer metabolism and related conditions. Projects include proton spectroscopy and proton-decoupled phosphorus MR spectroscopic imaging in the abdomen and extremities. The NMR lab currently has funded studies for MRSI in the liver, as well as in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, sarcoma, and prostate. The position will entail acquisition of the data, processing, and writing up the results for publication. The interested candidate will also be encouraged to develop his/her own projects in clinical spectroscopy. The candidate should have a strong background in MR physics and an interest in spectroscopic applications to the biology of cancer. Experience in MR spectroscopy is advantageous but not essential.

The in vivo NMR Laboratory investigates the uses of magnetic resonance for studying tumor metabolism, pharmacology and responses to treatment. These studies are done on patients, animal tumor model systems, and cells. MSKCC has multiple 1.5 T clinical scanners as well as a 3T clinical scanner with multinuclear capability. In addition, the Imaging and Spectroscopic Physics Laboratory is equipped with 4.7 and 7T horizontal bore small animal scanners, an electronics laboratory, chemistry lab, and multiple PC and SUN workstations. Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
