Excellent opportunity exists for early career or more established researchers to work in a stimulating and challenging research team environment.

The Biomedical Engineering (BME) research group within the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering has several research positions available in the areas of image processing, magnetic resonance
(MR) engineering/physics and medical instrumentation. The research positions will focus on a project entitled, 'Medical and Diagnostic Technologies Queensland (MedTeQ.)  MedTeQ has two broad aims; firstly is to improve health care and efficiency through enhanced diagnostic systems and alternate modes of care delivery, particularly for select Cancer and Cardiopulmonary diseases, and secondly to generate innovative diagnostic devices and systems. MedTeQ is funded through two Smart State grants. The collaborative partners for this project are CSIRO, QHealth, The Mater Misericordiae Hospitals, The Prince Charles Hospital, The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, The University of Washington and The Wesley Hospital Research Institute.

The Role: The appointee will address the fundamental research problems posed in this project, to implement novel algorithms, carry out design work and experimental evaluations and to prepare patent specifications, technical reports and/or research publications. There are also opportunities to contribute to teaching of related course material within the School, depending on the career goals of the appointee.

The Person: The successful applicant will have completed (or submitted) a PhD in Electrical, Biomedical or Computer Engineering or a related field such as Applied Mathematics or Physics with particular skills and knowledge in the areas of medical image processing, MR Physics/Engineering or medical instrumentation. Experience in working in clinical environments would be an advantage
