POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Biochemist/Biophysicist - MR Spectroscopy

The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC) is accepting applications for a post-doctoral fellowship to work on a collaborative project with a Federal Agency in Baltimore dedicated to understanding altered metabolism and neurotransmission in schizophrenia and drug addiction. The candidate will join a team of MR physicists, psychiatrists and neurobiologists to a) develop MR spectroscopy techniques for measuring brain metabolites and neurotransmitters, such as glutamate and NAAG, and b) investigate the consequences of drug addiction on these metabolite levels in humans and animal models. Experiments will be conducted on a research-dedicated 3T Siemens MRI scanner and a 9.4T Bruker animal MRI scanner housed at the Federal Agency. The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Physiology, Neuroscience, or a related field. Experience in MR spectroscopy in human and/or small animals is preferred.
