Postdoctoral positions in medical imaging
with a particular focus on magnetic resonance imaging and microscopy are
available in the Laboratory for Structural NMR in the Department of
Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, for a period
of two years, with possible extension to a third year.
Research in the host laboratory focuses on the development and
application of quantitative MRI methods, including advanced image
processing and mathematical modeling. Current projects in the laboratory
include the development of methods for acquisition, processing and
analysis of images from multiple modalities with applications toward the
elucidation of structure, function and physiology at the organ and
tissue level.
Anticipated activities entail development and implementation of imaging
techniques at the pulse sequence design and implementation level, image
reconstruction and large-scale image data processing and analysis. For
positions in image processing, tasks envisioned involve implementation
of algorithms for quantitative analysis based on principles of digital
geometry.
The Department of Radiology's Center for Advanced MR Imaging and
Spectroscopy (CAMRIS) accommodates multiple whole-body MRI research
scanners operating at 1.5, 3 and 7T field strength, designed for patient
related research, as well as various small-bore systems for specimen and
animal
studies ranging from 4.7 to 9.4T field strength.
Candidates are expected to have an advanced degree (Ph.D.) in physics,
biomedical engineering, or electrical/electronic engineering. Candidates
with laboratory experience in MRI research are preferred. Documented
experience in scientific programming related to medical imaging and
algorithm design is required. Candidates who are U.S. citizens or who
have permanent resident status are given preference.
The University of Pennsylvania is an Equal Opportunity employer.
The University of Pennsylvania is an equal opportunity employer and
candidates of underrepresented minorities are particularly encouraged to
apply.
