Post-Doctoral Fellow in Cardio-Vascular Intervention
Brigham and Womens Hospital/ Radiology, Boston, MA, USA
Posted: 13 November 2008

Role: Physicist/Electrical-Engineer to develop MRI-compatible Radio-Frequency system components, as well as develop catheter-mounted micro-RF components.

Project focus is (100%) cardio-vascular intervention, with a focus on treatment of Electro-Physiological disorders using MRI-guidance.

System focus is on building analog and digital electrical circuits that will reduce the mutual interaction between low-frequency (<1 MHz EM wave) devices and the MRI field (both <5 KHz and >60 MHz EM waves).

The RF design focus is on 64 MHz imaging coils at the distal end of catheters which will provide >10x SNR gain versus surface coils.

Collaborative work with a large group of imaging professionals working on NIH-funded image-guided therapy and pulmonary disease projects, using General Electric and Siemens 1.5 Tesla & 3 Tesla clinical/research MRI scanners.

Required Qualifications:
1. Understanding digital and analog electrical circuit design
2. Understanding of RF antenna design
3. Experience in programming in Matlab
4. Experience and interest in implementing procedures to the clinical environment.
5. MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Bio-medical engineering or related field

Appointment Length & Salary:
2-3 year BWH Radiology and Harvard Medical School appointment. Possible extension, based on performance. Salary is negotiable. Start date is fall 2008/spring 2009.

Brigham and Womens Hospital and Harvard Medical School are equal opportunity employers
