The Prince of Wales Medical Research
Institute has an established record of national and international
research leadership in the neurosciences. Over 220 scientists,
clinicians, students and allied staff support its mission to advance the
knowledge, treatment and cure of neuroscience related disorders through
excellence in research.
This new position in small animal imaging is funded by the Australian
Commonwealth Government as part of its National Imaging Facility (NIF –
see www.anif.org.au) for three
years. The full time Fellow will coordinate and participate in research
programs in the UNSW node of the NIF. The incumbent will be expected to
provide imaging expertise on a collaborative and consultative basis to
local and external users of the Prince of Wales Medical Research
Institute 3T Imaging Facility, develop and implement novel imaging
experiment protocols and techniques, facilitate access to the Facility,
promote the activities of the UNSW node to the scientific community
nationally, and develop an independent research profile in MR imaging.
Essential criteria: a PhD in a relevant discipline with postdoctoral
experience in the application of modern MR imaging techniques to
biomedical or preclinical research programs, with a minimum of three
year’s postdoctoral research experience; detailed knowledge of MR
physics; familiarity with pulse programming, data processing and method
design and implementation; experience in small animal handling in the
scanner environment, including anaesthesia and physiological monitoring;
proven excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
