A postdoctoral research position is available immediately
in Functional MRI Brain Imaging, High Altitude & Hypoxia. The project will focus primarily on the application of functional MRI and biophysical models to determine the interplay of cerebral perfusion and metabolism in the human brain during sustained hypoxia. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of MR scientists, physicians and physiologists, working at the Center for Functional MRI at University of California San Diego and at the High Altitude White Mountain Research Station near the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. The UCSD fMRI Center is supported by close ties to the Division of Physiology and a strong MRI physics research group. The fMRI Center houses two 3T GE MRI scanners dedicated to research located on the UCSD School of Medicine campus, amidst a large and thriving neuroscience community. Candidate should have a Ph.D. in physical sciences, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or related discipline. Expertise in MRI, image processing/analysis, and Matlab programming are desirable. Candidates with an MD, or PhD in biological sciences with suitable research expertise in MR image processing/analysis would also be considered. A strong drive and an interest in high altitude field work are advantageous. UC San Diego is an Equal Opportunity / Staff Affirmative Action Employer that values a diverse workforce. Applicants should email a CV, along with a brief letter outlining their research interests and contact information for three references to: David Dubowitz, MD, PhD Center for Functional MRI, University of California San Diego.
