The main goal of the project is to improve the non invasive characterization of the spinal cord (SC) traumatic pathologies through the assessment of structural, vascular and metabolism information.  In a first approach, development and optimization of non invasive in vivo SC MR imaging strategies will be performed. Such strategies involve diffusion, spectroscopy and perfusion MRI methods.  The techniques will be applied to mouse SC injuries in combination with functional tests and histology. The transfer of the most relevant and efficient MR techniques to human studies is also part of the project.

CRMBM offers an in-house state-of-the-art small animal imaging platform with Bruker 4.7T and 11.75T MRI systems. CRMBM is also equipped with Siemens 1.5T and 3T systems totally dedicated to human researches.

The candidate will develop and validate MR techniques for mouse SC investigations and participate to the transfer to human SC study. He/she will be integrated in a multidisciplinary experienced team of MRI method scientists, engineers and biologists.

We search for candidates with good expertise in small animal MRI method development and applications.
Competence in MR physics and MR engineering physiology is advantageous.

Experience with post-processing environments like IDL or Matlab will be necessary. Knowledge of Bruker operating system (PVM) and skills in pulse sequence programming would be greatly appreciated.
The candidate should possess a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, such as physics, biomedical engineering, or biology.

Salary is provided by an ANR grant (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) and includes health insurance and complete social coverage.
