About the Fund

The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) is committed to promoting communication, research, development, applications and the availability of information on magnetic resonance in medicine and biology and other related topics internationally; to developing and providing channels and facilities for continuing education and communication in the field; and to ensuring that scientists and clinicians working in the field have equal and fair opportunities to contribute to it.

Mission

To support the objectives of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine through research, education and financially supporting the next generation of specialists focused on development and applications in the field of magnetic resonance in medicine and biology.

Objectives

To promote communication, research, development, applications and the availability of information on magnetic resonance in medicine and biology and other related topics internationally; to develop and provide channels and facilities for continuing education and communication in the field; to ensure that scientists and clinicians working in the field have equal and fair opportunities to contribute to it.

Goals

To fund trainee stipends for attendance at ISMRM organized annual meetings, educational courses and scientific workshops; to administer seed grants to trainees and junior faculty to stimulate original research and development in the field of magnetic resonance; to develop programs to further advance the mission and objectives of the Fund.

The ISMRM funds over 900 stipends annually to its student members to attend the ISMRM Annual Meeting, with a portion going to those ISMRM members from financially disadvantaged countries to ensure their participation. This program has been expanded to support educational stipends for student members to attend ISMRM workshops.

Current Programs:

Educational Stipend
This program offers support for the attendance of students, postdoctoral and clinical trainees to present abstracts at the ISMRM Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Those applicants who are first authors on the abstract will be given priority.

Clinical Stipend
This program offers support for the attendance of junior clinical faculty to present abstracts at the ISMRM Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Those applicants who are first authors on the abstract will be given priority.

New Entrant Stipend
This program offers support for the attendance of students, trainees, or researchers who are new to the field and might not be funded under the main educational stipend program to attend the ISMRM Annual Meeting & Exhibition.

E. K. Zavoisky Stipend
This program offers support for the attendance of scientists and clinicians who reside in financially restricted countries and who have limited personal income to attend the ISMRM Annual Meeting & Exhibition. The program is named in honor of E.K. Zavoisky, pioneer in MR research from the former USSR. Those applicants who are first authors on the abstract will be given priority.

Young Investigator Award
The YIA is funded by the R&E Fund, enabled by a grant from Martin R. Prince, M.D., Ph.D. and James F. M. Meaney, M.D.
