Abstract Deadlines:
The deadline for receipt of abstract submissions for the SMRT 12th Annual
Meeting is 17:00 hours (5PM) Pacific Time (USA) on 17 January 2003. If paper forms are needed, please contact the SMRT office:+1 (510)
841-1899 or e-mail: smrt@ismrm.org. Faxed abstracts will NOT be considered. The deadline
for Abstract withdrawal is 17 February 2003.
Format of Abstract: To assist you, we have
provided a template in Word format. Just highlight and replace the title, authors
and affiliations, and text with your own, print it on an official Abstract Form, and mail
it to the SMRT Central Office with your Abstract Submission Form, or submit it
electronically.

When submitting an abstract,
please use the following format:
- Abstract must be
contained within the boundaries of the outline box;
- Use 10pt. type;
- Indent each paragraph three (3)
spaces;
- DO NOT use space between
paragraphs;
- References are allowed only
within the prescribed margins;

Content:
It should state the purpose of the research, outline the methods,
summarize the results, and, finally, discuss the conclusion
from the results. Please use the four sections requested and designate each by
respectively heading the beginning of each:: "Purpose,"
"Methods," "Results," and "Conclusion." For more

Presentation:
All papers submitted for the Technologist Program may be presented in the following
formats: Oral Presentation or Poster Presentation. The authors of abstracts
accepted as Poster Presentations are required to attend the Poster Exhibit and Walking
Tour Reception on Friday, 9 May 2003, at 18:30. The authors of abstracts accepted as
Oral Presentations are required to present their paper at the scheduled day and time.
Oral presentations will be allowed ten (10) minutes followed by a
discussion period not to exceed two (2) minutes. All oral and poster presenters will
receive detailed instructions and information pertaining to their presentations with their
acceptance letters.
The President's Award: The Presidents Award was
established to honor the most outstanding abstract submitted for the SMRT 12th Annual
Meeting. The recipient of this award must present his/her work as an Oral
Presentation. In addition, the recipient may also present his/her work as a Poster
Presentation. The honoree will receive an educational stipend to support the
presentation of the award-winning abstract at the SMRT 12th Annual Meeting.
Other Awards: Awards will be presented to the (next)
highest scored submitted abstracts. These awards are as follows:
(1) Research
Focus - Oral Presentation: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd;
(2) Research Focus - Poster Presentation: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd;
(3) Clinical Focus - Oral Presentation: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd;
(4) Clinical Focus - Poster Presentation: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:
In completing the request for address information, it is imperative that you list the
presenter's name, preferred mailing address, E-mail, and appropriate telephone/fax
numbers. The submitted SMRT Abstract must be completed in its entirety or the
submission will not be considered. The author listing is limited to eight additional
authors. If more than eight authors contributed to the work, please check the
appropriate box on the application. The abstract will be published in the SMRT
Annual Meeting Syllabus with "et al." after the authors' names.

Once you have completed your
abstract in Word or WordPerfect format, just access the link below, fill out the on-line
form, and follow the instructions to submit your abstract electronically. You will
receive an email confirmation of your submission to the SMRT office. If you send an
electronic abstract submission, DO NOT SEND A PAPER VERSION.

Abstract Application and official abstract forms. Once you have completed your
abstract on the official 2003 Abstract form(s), mail all pages of your completed abstract
application (no copies required) to the address below. If paper forms are needed,
