In 1997 during her tenure as MR Clinical Educator for GE Medical Systems she became a member of the SMRT. In April 2001 Cindy was elected to serve on the SMRT Policy Board and received the President’s Award for her Proffered Paper, “Requirements for Establishing First Pass Stress and Rest Myocardial Perfusion Protocol in an Outpatient Clinical Setting” at the SMRT/BAMRR Joint Annual Meeting in Glasgow, Scotland. While serving as a SMRT Policy Board member she was appointed the Regional Committee Chair in May 2002. She successfully promoted the SMRT’s mission of expanding educational opportunities for MRI technologists by encouraging other MRI professionals to host a Regional meeting. She has participated in numerous SMRT Annual Meetings as an invited faculty presenter (2000, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014), abstract award presenter (2001, 2003, 2007) and poster award winner (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006). She was an invited speaker for the 2008 SMRT/ISMRM Joint Forum held in Toronto Canada and served as Co-chair for the SMRT/ISMRM Joint Forum held in Berlin, Germany in 2007 and the 2014 Joint Forum in Milan, Italy. She has served on all SMRT committees and currently participates in the Education and Program Committees. She also actively serves as a RCEEM reviewer.

Since 1999, Cindy has volunteered her time to share her knowledge of cardiac MRI at numerous SMRT Regional Meetings and Chapter Meetings throughout United States and internationally. In 2005 and 2007 she co-chaired SMRT Regional Meetings held in New York City. She was an invited speaker and SMRT representative for the 2nd Annual Australia and New Zealand Chapter meeting held November 2007 and the SMRT European Regional held in Arhus, Denmark in March 2008. Cindy has served as question writer, literature reviewer and author for the SMRT Home Study Program.

Cindy was elected as the 2006-2007 SMRT President and feels that the role of the MRI technologist is ever evolving in many applications and without the SMRT today’s issues facing MRI technologists would be very challenging to overcome. During her presidency she advocated continual development of electronic continuing education offerings to support a growing SMRT membership. She would like to credit the phenomenal support from the Executive Committee and Policy Board members as she truly believes in promoting a team effort.

As Past President she led a core group of MRI professionals in the completion of the 2008 MRI Curriculum Guide, a joint effort with the ARRT, ASRT and JRCERT organizations. In 2011 she was elected as the External Relations Chair and has represented the SMRT in many collaboration activities. She is owned by three adorable Shih-tzus, Toby, Simba and Mindy whom support all of her SMRT endeavors! It is truly an exceptional honor for Cindy to be considered for the Distinguish Service Award.
