The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the School of Medicine at Stanford University has a vacancy for a MRI Manager to oversee and participate in imaging related research in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (50% FTE). The MRI Manager performs examinations according to protocols set for the by the MRI laboratory director. He/She will supervise and train post-doctoral fellows and assist with MRI related research projects. He/She demonstrates an understanding of human cross sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. He/She maintains knowledge and awareness of high magnetic field strength safety. He/She will participate in a full range of human and animal MRI studies. The MRI manager will ensure the laboratory is in accordance with policy and procedure as well as State and Federal regulations.

Duties include:

Use consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination being performed, including correct subject identification and screening. Demonstrate magnetic field safety practices during MRI examinations. Assess subject and protocol to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure. Produce MRI scans according to MRI laboratory protocols with a high degree of accuracy. Evaluate finished images for technical accuracy and quality. Assist with data and image analysis. Provide pre- and post exam subject education to study subjects and researchers pertinent to exam being performed.

Maintain appropriate paperwork related to research studies and protocols for human subjects and animal projects. Update and submit research protocols related to MRI research group. Manage schedule of MRI laboratory, balancing needs of different researchers. Instruct and train researchers in MRI safety and scanning protocols and assist in training of department procedures. Attend and participate in MRI laboratory meetings. Take an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in MRI equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities. Assist with quality improvement programs in the department/division. Ensure that assigned areas are kept neat and orderly. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• BA degree required;

• Have current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) ;

• Two years related work experience performing radiology techniques;

• Have an understanding of human cross sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.

• Requires MRI registry within 2 years of employment.

• Experience with MRI related research and advanced training in the field of MRI / Imaging desired.

• Experience with cardiovascular research, human subject protocols, animal imaging preferred.
