Educational Objectives
Part I: The Impact of Field Strength on Image Quality in MRI

Review industry definitions of image quality in MR.

Discuss the physical characteristics and parameters associated with image quality.

Discuss the characteristics of image quality as seen in certain clinical disease categories.

Part II: MR Arthrography of the Shoulder: Rethinking Traditional Imaging Procedures to Meet the Technical Requirements of MR Imaging Guidance

To determine the feasibility of the appropriate technique for performance of MR image guided arthrography.

Part III: Accuracy of Imaging the Menisci on an In-Office, Dedicated, Magnetic Resonance Imaging System

Discuss the abilities of a dedicated extremity system in the evaluation of meniscal tears.

Familiarize the reader with the methods associated with a research study.

Review the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the technique evaluated.

Define, and discuss the importance of positive and negative predictive values.

Discuss the possible factors contributing to false positive and false negative results.

Familiarize the reader with results of previously conducted studies of meniscal imaging.

Part IV: Field Strength Dependence of Gadolinium Enhancement: Theory and Implications

Discuss the effect of contrast enhancement by pulse sequence.

Discuss the effect of contrast enhancement by dosage.

Discuss the effect of contrast enhancement by field strength.

Review the research performed regarding field strength enhancement.

Familiarize the reader with results of previously conducted studies of meniscal imaging.

Part V: Low-Field MR Imaging of the Spine: A Comparative Study of a Traditional and a New, Completely Balanced Gradient-Echo Sequence

Review the inherent weaknesses of low-field imaging of the spine.

Discuss an alternative imaging sequence, the completely balanced steady-state (CBASS) 3D sequence as a means of improving spine imaging.

Part VI: Design and Implementation of an Interventional MR Imaging Suite

To define the parameters of establishing an interventional MR Imaging Suite.

To learn the necessity for specialized equipment that is used with interventional MR procedures.

To review MR imaging patient safety and screening policies.

To familiarize the reader with the considerations for working with this modality in an operating room setting.
