MRI of the Liver To review
the advantages and disadvantages of the various pulse sequences used in
MR imaging of the liver.
To discuss the multiple contrast agents used in MR
imaging of the liver.
To compare and contrast the detection and
characterization of various liver lesions and liver disease processes.
Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, and Hepatoma
To review the characteristic appearance and
enhancement patterms of hepatitis and liver cirrhosis on Computed
Tomgraphy (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
To discuss methods of evaluating liver function such
as Perfusion-Diffusion Imaging, and the use of tissue specific contrast
media.
To review the pathology of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)
and the characteristic appearance and enhancement patterns of the
disease on CT and MRI.
To compare the appearance of HCC after several
treatment methods (TACE and PEIT), and with the use of tissue
specific-contrast agents.
To explain how liver tumors such as adenomatous
hyperplasia and hemangioma can be differentiated from HCC.
Enlargement of the Hilar Periportal Space: A Sign
of Early Cirrhosis at MR Imaging
To review the MR sequences useful in demonstrating
hepatic anatomy, specifically the hilar periportal space.
To discuss the quantitative and qualitative methods to
evaluate the hilar periportal space.
To discuss the morphologic changes which occur with
cirrhosis of the liver.
To demonstrate that enlargement of the hilar
periportal space is a significant indicator of early stage cirrhosis.
Detection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Comparison
of T2-Weighted Breath-Hold Fast Spin-Echo Sequences and High-Resolution
Dynamic MR Imaging With a Phased-Array Body Coil
To discuss the imaging parameters and options of
various MR pulse sequences which aid in the detection of Hepatocellular
Carcinoma (HCC).
To review the quantitative and qualitative methods
used to compare various MR pulse sequences in their ability to detect
HCC.
To compare and contrast the various MR pulse sequences
in their ability to detect, delineate, and differentiate HCC.
To discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the
various MR pulse sequences as seen in this study, and compare and
contrast the findings of that of similar research studies. |
