Rosemary Fisher, R.T.,(R)(CT)(MR), Co-Chair

The 2012 SMRT Northwest Chapter Regional Seminar was held on Saturday, 27 October at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington, USA. There were a total of 88 attendees, which exceeded our expectations and filled the meeting room to bursting. We had a great agenda of speakers which included a MRI Safety Update from Frank Shellock, Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and a Protocol Optimization review by Michael Cecil, B.S., R.T. from Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. There were two presentations “from a technologist’s viewpoint” – fMRI by Jim Anderson, B.S., R.T. from Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and Orthopedic Imaging by Daniel Lopez, R.T. from Orthopedic Physicians Associates in Seattle, Washington. Guy Poloni, Ph.D. from Toshiba Medical Systems presented “Advances in Non-Contrast Techniques.” Jeremy Corwin, MHP with Corwin Health Physics finished the day with an update on ACR accreditation and an excellent presentation on spatial gradients.

The chapter would like to thank two new sponsors of the meeting – MagnaServ West, LLC and Metrasens Ltd USA. I would like to thank the meeting co-chairs, Heather Dietz and Colleen Cadieux for their assistance. A special thank you goes to Ed Glaser, R.T. from Providence Medical Center who hosted the meeting and kept things moving smoothly. I would also like to thank the other volunteers who assisted with registration, set-up and clean-up. You all made the meeting a great success!
