Pre-Course Workshop: Ultrasound in Osteoarthritis

Thursday, 01 June 2017
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
No Additional Fee (No CME available)
Please note: Registration limited to first 15 participants who sign up.
Location: Castlereagh Imaging (Corner of Pacific Highway and Reserve Road)

This three hour intensive hands-on workshop is designed by musculoskeletal ultrasound experts to provide those with some ultrasound knowledge on diagnostic scanning techniques, navigation skills and an understanding of normal and pathologic sonographic patterns and appearances in hand and knee osteoarthritis. The small-group structure will ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment utilising small-group tutorial and real-time scanning techniques.

Pre-Course Workshop: Are any Preclinical Models of Osteoarthritis Useful for Translation of Diagnostics & Therapies to Patients?

Thursday, 01 June 2017
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
No Additional Fee (No CME available)
Location: Royal North Shore Hospital - Kolling Building (See Map)

Pre-clinical models remain a cornerstone for discovery and drug-development osteoarthritis research, but their translational value continues to be debated. This three-hour pre-course workshop will examine current preclinical models of osteoarthritis and discuss their potential for evaluating and developing both diagnostics and therapies that translate to the human condition. Short stimulating and provocative presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with invited experts from academia and industry including Prof Richard Loeser and Dr Peter Mitchell. Providing sufficient interaction to allow meaningful discussion by all with an interest in this area, the workshop will discuss state-of-the-art preclinical models and how to better facilitate and optimise translation.

Pre-Course Workshop Transportation (On your own)
Both pre-course workshops are readily accessible from St. Leonard’s train station. Participants are encouraged to take the train from Wynyard Station to St. Leonard’s-Wynyard, which is readily accessible from the Sydney Harbour Marriot Hotel. Alternatively, it is a 15-minute taxi ride.
