Scientific Meeting
"Physiological, Functional, and Mechanical MR Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System"

Objective:   To discuss discuss established and novel approaches for evaluating the physiological and functional aspects of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease, from both molecular and mechanical perspectives.  Discussion will include (but will not be limited to) MR imaging methods for study of muscle composition and contractility and application of perfusion/diffusion imaging, spectroscopy and other methods for study of musculoskeletal disease.  Discussion will then transition to macroscopic methods for study of the musculoskeletal system, based on mechanical stresses applied during MR imaging.  This will include review of techniques for imaging various joints under stress, weight-bearing, or during motion.  The goal is to help advance the clinical practice of musculoskeletal MR imaging from a morphologic basis to a more functional basis.  Speakers are to be announced.
