Clinical High Field MRI

Skill level: Intermediate
Kimberly K. Amrami, M.D., Organizer

Sunday, 20 May

Overview

This half-day course will review the current state of the art clinical applications and use of 3T MRI. 3T has become an accepted clinical tool for neuro and musculoskeletal imaging and is being actively developed for other applications such as body, breast and prostate imaging. In addition to reviewing current clinical practice this course will explore the challenges and opportunities of advanced imaging techniques at 3T as well as the technical challenges compared with 1.5T.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
Define the role of high field MRI in current clinical practice;
Describe the indication for the use of high field MRI for neuroradiology applications in the brain and spine;
Identify appropriate indications for the use of 3T MRI for breast and prostate imaging;
Describe the role of specialized imaging techniques such as parallel imaging at 3T compared with 1.5T MRI; and
Explain the role of specialized coils in optimizing high field MRI in the clinical setting
