This Body MRI course begins with an all-day session on Saturday and continues with two one-hour morning categorical courses (pulmonary function and multi-parametric prostate cancer MR) and includes two two-hour clinical categorical courses (bowel/pancreas/peritoneum and female pelvis).

This session will review the latest clinical applications of MR for gynecological disorders. Cervical cancer imaging will be reviewed with staging and treatment responses evaluated. The role of MRI on imaging, characterizing and monitoring treatment response for uterine leiomyomas will be covered in detail. The new MR-guided therapy with focused ultrasound will be discussed and clinical applications outlined based on large clinical trials presented.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the impact of functional, quantitative and molecular MR in abdominal imaging;
  • Apply new body MR techniques in their practice;
  • Use multiparametric MRI for improved diagnosis of abdominal diseases;
  • Describe indications of functional and quantitative MRI in the assessment of liver, pancreas, bowel and kidney diseases;
  • Design new female pelvic and prostate protocols, introducing these methods and compare them to more conventional approaches; and
  • Appraise the indications for anatomical and functional imaging of the breasts and the lungs.
  • Audience Description:

    The clinical categorical courses are designed for clinical radiologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, cardiologists, oncologists, practicing clinicians and scientists, from beginning to advanced experience levels working in MR.
