OVERVIEW
This breast session is given as part of the Advances in Clinical Musculoskeletal, Breast and Body Imaging program, spanning the educational weekend and weekday sessions. It is a two hour program, with four internationally renowned expert speakers.

The topics to be covered are:
  • MR and pathological characterization of breast Cancer
  • Breast MRI update on new techniques 3T vs. 1.5T
  • Assessment of treatment response
  • MR guided breast FUS
The overall goal is to provide an update on breast MR techniques, how to optimize protocols, assess the advantages of 1.5 and 3.0T approaches and assess the role of imaging in treatment response and MR guided focused ultrasound surgery for breast cancer.
 
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES     
Upon completion of this case based session, participants should be able to:
  • Interpret MRI findings with a detailed understanding of the pathological correlates in breast disease;
  • Compare the pros and cons of use of 1.5 T and 3T devices and design protocols that will apply to their patient population; and
  • Predict treatment response with MR findings for women after surgery, chemotherapy or before, during and after focused ultrasound surgery.
