WEEKDAY EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Advanced Cartilage Imaging
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
ORGANIZERS: Richard Kijowski, M.D., William B. Morrison, M.D. & Ravinder Regatte, Ph.D.
Monday, 12 May 2014

OVERVIEW
The course will provide an in-depth discussion of the use of MRI for evaluating cartilage. The lectures will review the technical aspects of cartilage imaging and describe emerging MRI techniques for evaluating cartilage composition and structure. The lectures will also discuss the clinical applications of the various cartilage imaging methods for evaluating patients with joint pain and following cartilage repair procedures. The course is intended to bridge the gap between basic science research and patient care.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is directed at clinicians interested in learning about emerging MRI techniques for evaluating articular cartilage and basic science researchers seeking to enhance their knowledge on potential clinical applications of novel MRI technology.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the technical aspects of cartilage imaging;
  • Recognize emerging MRI techniques for assessing cartilage composition and structure; and
  • Implement MRI techniques to evaluate cartilage in clinical practice.
