Joint Annual Meeting ISMRM-ESMRMB 2014 10-16 May 2014 Milan, Italy

WEEKDAY EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Emerging Brain Techniques
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
ORGANIZERS: David B. Hackney, M.D. & Pratik Mukherjee, M.D., Ph.D.
Wednesday, 14 May 2014

OVERVIEW
Although MRI methods in neuroscience are already well advanced, there are many aspect of brain physiology and disease processes still unaddressed or poorly discriminated. This series of lectures will outline 'hot topics' of particular promise in emerging brain MRI techniques.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Scientists, engineers, physicists, and advanced clinicians seeking to apply cutting edge MRI applications in the neurosciences.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Detail how quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) can be used to evaluate brain iron;
  • Assess sodium imaging in acute brain ischemia and other applications;
  • Appraise new methods to study brain inflammation using MRI; and
  • Discriminate brain diseases using MRI fingerprinting.
