OVERVIEW
This course will provide an overview of recent state-of-the-art developments in the acquisition methods for diffusion-weighted MRI for DTI and beyond. In particular, the lectures will focus on leading-edge methods for improving the spatial fidelity, spatial resolution (multishot, 3D, and reduced FOV) and speed (multiband and compressed sensing) of diffusion-weighted imaging and novel mechanisms (double pulsed field gradient and oscillating gradient) of diffusion-weighting.
 
TARGET AUDIENCE
Scientists and Researchers who are familiar with basic diffusion MRI methodology and want to learn about state-of-the-art technical developments.
 
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand potential options for improved acquisition of diffusion-weighted MRI;
  • Develop strategies for improved acquisition of diffusion-weighted MRI;
  • Compare methods for making diffusion-weighted MRI faster and higher spatial resolution;
  • Develop the understanding to reduce artifacts from susceptibility and eddy currents; and
  • Assess new diffusion-weighted imaging methodologies including double wave encoding and oscillating gradient acquisitions.
