Session Number: S-M-04

Overview
This Sunrise Session will be in a debate format in which two speakers will present the pros and cons of non-contrast ASL perfusion methods and contrast-agent based techniques, as well as the potential of ASL in routine clinical applications.

Target Audience
This course is designed for clinicians and scientists who are interested in perfusion imaging and have some knowledge about the potential utility of perfusion in clinical applications.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
-Assess the pros/cons of ASL Perfusion MRI;
-Identify clinical applications where ASL can become the perfusion imaging method of choice; and
-Identify clinical applications where ASL is not ready yet to replace contrast-based methods.

Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) is a non-invasive MRI technique to measure cerebral blood flow (CBF) and other perfusion related parameters such as arterial transit time (ATT). At present, main areas of interest clinically are cerebrovascular disease, dementia and neuro-oncology.
