Skill Level: Intermediate

Session Number: S-Th-08

Overview
Modern MR systems have become more complex, and the development of new MR systems is generally reserved for major medical device manufacturers. This course revisits this assumption in the era of the Maker Culture. Several critical hardware and software components are available in the consumer space, and this course will introduce the attendees to the tools and techniques available to scientists that would like to make their own MR hardware and software. The fourth and last day of this Sunrise Educational course will focus on the tools used to develop production- grade software and how these principles are applied to acquisition and reconstruction components.

Target Audience
Scientists who are interested in making their own MR hardware and software components.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
-Describe the life cycle of large open-source software projects;
-Select development tools for open-source software development; and
-Apply open-source principles to MR software development.

  Open Source Acquisition & Reconstruction Software
Stefan Kroboth
This educational lecture will introduce the audience to open source image acquisition and image reconstruction tools which can be used to set up an open source pipeline for rapid prototyping of MR imaging and reconstruction methods.
