Overview
This sunrise course will provide an overview of recent advances in stroke imaging raging from pre-clinical animal studies to their clinical applications. More specifically, this course will focus on functional MR imaging of post-stroke animal models as well as recently advancing non-constant stroke imagine in humans.

Target Audience
Basic scientists to clinicians will benefit from this overview of the stroke and neuromuscular MR imaging.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Recognize appropriate animal models used for stroke imaging;
- Demonstrate functional assessment of post-stroke animal modes using MRI;
- Discuss advanced imaging techniques challenged in stroke imaging; and
- Identify clinical applications of advanced MR imaging in stoke patient care.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the live animal is a powerful tool and helps to understand the biological process in the brains from normal to neurodegeneration, including ischemic stroke. The presence of immune/lymphatic activity in the CNS has been recently revealed, and live animal MR imaging plays a crucial role in the monitoring of physiological or pathological processes in the CNS. I will review the pros/cons of rodent stroke models associated with MRI experiments. I will also present the recent results of how the rodent brains react after ischemic insult with several in-vivo MRI approaches, including DWI, DCE, and cellular tracing.
