Overview
This course will provide researchers a biology overview on animal models in neuroscience, cancer, inflammation, and cardiovascular medicine, followed by cutting-edge applications to study these disease areas.

Target Audience
Physicists beginning in vivo imaging, or needing a refresher on current techniques and animal models.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Define appropriate animal models for probing various diseases;
- Explain the underlying biology of these disease processes; and
- Identify appropriate techniques for answering biological questions in neuroscience, inflammation, infectious disease, oncology, and cardiovascular medicine.

Watch the Video

MRI is able to provide measurements of a range of tumour microenvironmental features. This lecture will summarise these capabilities and provide detailed examples, including measurements of tumour microstructure using diffusion MRI and measurements of hypoxia using an oxygen challenge. Example applications of these measurements will be presented and the importance of validation of MRI measurements will be discussed.
