Applying self-decoupling for proton coils in a dual-tuned nested array can avoid the use of fo any additional decoupling circuits and realize highly flexible dual-tuned coils.
Figure 2 Diagram of a nested dual-tuned coil array with two self-decoupled 1H coils and two overlapping-decoupled X-nuclear coils. The lumped capacitor Cmode can be replaced with a microstrip line or coaxial cable for flexible coils.
Figure 1 Illustration of a nested dual-tuned coil array with two 1H coils and two X-nuclear coils. The X-nuclear coils in the outer rings are overlapped by ~10% to minimize inductive coupling. The overlapping area of proton coils in the inner ring is not optimal for coil isolation so an additional decoupling circuit is required.
