Wow! The 2021 Annual Meeting of the ISMRM has a lot going on this year!

Here is a guide to all the session types that will be featured at this year’s meeting, and how you can prepare during the two week pre-meeting ramp up:

ISMRM — Scientific Sessions

ISMRM Scientific Sessions

(2 hours)

In the first hour, 10 pre-recorded oral presentations will be played in a Zoom webinar format, and attendees will be able to pose questions to the presenters in the chat; presenters, if available, may answer these questions also in the chat. In the second hour, small group Zoom meetings will be held in which oral and poster abstract authors and attendees can interact “face-to-face.” Each presenter will be grouped with the presenters of 4 other abstracts from the same session in a Zoom meeting, and attendees will be able to join and ask questions of any of these presenters; it will be possible for participants to share their screens and content in the chat box as well.

Best Preparation for Scientific Sessions:
Review abstracts in sessions and come with questions for the authors!

ISMRM — Educational Q&A Sessions

ISMRM Educational Q&A Sessions

(30 or 45 minutes)

Most of the educational content will be available as recordings to view on demand starting 2 weeks before the meeting. In addition, each course also has a 30 min or 45 min live Q&A session during the meeting. This will be structured as a test-your-knowledge quiz about the recorded content: speakers will be asked to briefly summarize the main take-home messages of their presentation; moderators will then put multiple choice questions to the audience, display answers using a live response system, and discuss the answers together with the speakers. The audience will also be able to put additional questions in the chat window that may be picked up by the moderators.

Best Preparation for Educational Q&A Sessions:
Watch on-demand educational content, and submit any questions you have through the chat.

SMRT — Highlighted Lectures

SMRT Highlighted Lectures

These sessions include SMRT's Plenary, Keynote and President's Lecturers, providing pre-recorded talks shown LIVE followed by extended Q&A.

Best Preparation for the Highlighted Lectures:
Watch live with your colleagues and submit any questions you have through the on-line chat.

ISMRM — Combined Educational & Scientific Sessions or CES (2 hours)

ISMRM Combined Educational & Scientific Sessions or CES

These sessions will be similar to the Scientific Sessions. However, instead of 10 oral presentations, only 6 will be presented. The second half of the first hour will be an educational Q&A session about related subject matter.

Best Preparation for CES Sessions:
Watch on-demand educational content, review abstracts in sessions and come with questions for the authors!

ISMRM — Educational Tutorials

ISMRM Educational Tutorials

Some of the educational content will run as live interactive tutorials in a format tailored to the subject matter. This will feature member-initiated tutorials on Hands-on analysis of Physiological MRI (2 x 1 hour per day) and Cardiovascular MRI: from Theory to Practice (4 + 1 hour), Demos of Software Tools submitted by members (2 x 1 hour per day), and tutorials on Machine Learning in Cardiovascular MRI (2 + 1 hour), Resting state fMRI (4 hours), Diffusion MRI (2 x 2 hours) and Software Engineering for MRI (1 hour daily). Some of these tutorials will involve challenges you can work on in your own time and submit your answers for the award ceremonies on Thursday.

Best Preparation for Tutorials:
