Overview
This session will focus specifically on IDH-mutated gliomas with a description of the WHO guideline update, MR protocols for detection, and the successes and challenges of the current protocol.

Target Audience
Radiographers, MR technologists, radiologists, clinicians, and scientists interested in MRI and MRS of IDH-mutated glioma.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe updated WHO guidelines for gliomas;
- Review optimal MRI and MRS protocols for detecting IDH-mutated glioma; and
- Give examples of successes and challenges of the current protocol.

		IDH-Mutated Glioma/Glioma MR (Since 2016 WHO Guideline Update) Watch the Video Anja van der Kolk In this lecture, we will discuss what a glioma is, how gliomas were classified before the 2016 WHO Brain Tumor Classification update, and why this classification scheme changed from focusing solely on histopathology (or light microscopy) to combining both histopathological and genetic and molecular features of glioma cells. We will then zoom in on several of the genetic and molecular features that are relevant for the WHO classification of gliomas. We will end our journey through gliomagenesis with an overview of how these genetic and molecular features affect and even improve our MRI techniques and protocols for glioma imaging.
