SMRT Masterclass with Donald McRobbie: MR Safety: From Folklore to Physics: Induction—Electric Fields & Bio-Effects
SMRT Ed Session
Monday, 17 May 2021
SMRT Session 00:00 -  02:00 Moderators: Anne Marie Sawyer & James Stuppino
Session Number: SMRT-MP2
Parent Session: SMRT: MR Physics 2: Induction

Session Number: SMRT-MP2

Overview

Target Audience
Radiographers, technologists, radiologists, scientists, and anyone who can benefit from additional MR physics instruction.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Explain how the two interactions of magnetic fields with matter are either magnetization or induction and that induction is responsible for the Lenz and Lorentz forces as well as the generation of electric fields in tissue;
- Explain the relationship between acute sensory bio-effects and induction; and
- Explain the magnitude and patterns of induced electric fields and currents as they relate to tissue and implants.
