Working in Latin America: Challenges & Opportunities
SMRT Ed Session
Monday, 17 May 2021
SMRT Session 16:00 -  18:00 Moderators: Liana Sanches
Session Number: SMRTI-04

Organizer: Liana Sanches

Overview:
Latin America has a large portfolio of MRI machines. It runs from low-field magnets to a 7 Tesla. So, what makes MRI performance different there than in Europe or North America?

In this session, we aim to discuss the points where the costs of one machine must be compensated as fast as possible. It´s crucial to do a lot of examinations in one day, with faster protocols but not losing quality at all. Sometimes this comes as an innovation or opportunities of knowledge that must be spread.
We also want to discuss the research opportunities. Is it possible to do it in a run to pay for the machine? How is the scientific activity of the Latin American MRI community?

Join us in a multicultural, multi-language and friendly session.

Learning Objectives:
- Identify the possibilities to scan fast without losing quality;
- Recognise the Latin American way of performing MRI; and
- Review Latin American scientific production in MRI.
