We Are One: Patient Experiences with MRI
Plenary Session
Thursday, 09 May 2024
Plenary Hall (Hall 603-604)
10:45 - 11:15
Session Number: P-04B
No CME/CE Credit
OVERVIEW
Initiated in 2023, the We Are One session is a special session featuring
topics at the core of “One Community.” We are clinicians, scientists,
radiographers, engineers, residents, fellows, and much more. We are
united in our mission to advance magnetic resonance in medicine and
science. This year, we focus on the patients from Singapore sharing
their experience with MRI.
As we develop and apply technology, we are often very focused on single
tasks. Some of us are inventing new hardware or devising new pulse
sequences. Others are poring through data, looking for patterns that
will improve our understanding or diagnostic capabilities. Still others
are testing new methods in animals to understand biology, or to new
contrast mechanisms. Finally, the radiographers and physicians amongst
us are working with patients. Further beyond the imaging result is the
overall patient experience: what was it like to have your first MRI? How
were the results presented to you, and how did this change your overall
experience?
Today, several patients from Singapore will recount their stories by
video and through live presentation. This is a chance to remind
ourselves of why we do what we do and a chance to reexamine our
priorities in research and practice.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This session is intended for all members of ISMRM and ISMRT at all
levels.
OBJECTIVE
To recount patient experiences with MRI in Singapore so that we may
better understand how and when our techniques are applied and how they
impact patients.
