Overview
This forum is focused on Musculoskeletal MRI of the “young and young at heart" – towards a healthier footprint.

Target Audience
MRI Technologists and Radiographers.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
• Understand paediatric and adult joint imaging for conditions which have a detrimental effect on health;
• Apply knowledge of scan sequences and techniques used in joint
pathologies; and
• Provide better outcomes for adult and paediatric patients undergoing MSK
imaging for joint diseases.

10:30   Whole Joint Imaging of Osteoarthritis, Morphological & Quantitative MRI
Ashley Williams
Impact: MRI is a powerful tool for imaging osteoarthritis because it is sensitive to tissue changes potentially early enough in the disease process to permit disease modifying interventions.  Quantitative evaluation is essential for staging, tracking and studying clinically meaningful OA changes.
11:00   Paediatric Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO) Imaging
Trish Cahill
Impact: Chronic Relapsing Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO) is a rare auto-inflammatory disorder affecting paediatrics. Whole body MRI is crucial in the diagnosis and assessment of CRMO. The MRI protocol utilised at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne will be presented with case studies.
11:30   Implementing Quantitative MRI in Managing Muscular Diseases in Children
Hermien Kan
Impact:

-          chemical-shift-based-water-fat separation scans can be acquired with very short acquisition times, making them ideal for use in children

-          Replacing standard T1 and STIR scans with a single TSE-Dixon can create space in the program for quantitative scans
