Overview
This session will provide a comprehensive look at PET-MR imaging of the
prostate, highlighting key indications, imaging sequences, and protocol
strategies used in clinical practice. Through a series of illustrative
case studies, the speaker will demonstrate how PET-MR can enhance lesion
detection and staging in prostate cancer. Review the advantages of
hybrid PET MRI over conventional imaging techniques for prostate cancer
diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning. The speaker will also review
current evidence supporting the use of PET MRI for primary detection,
biochemical recurrence, and metastatic disease assessment. Discuss
practical considerations for implementing PET MRI in clinical practice,
including imaging technique, appropriate patient selection and
interpretation challenges. The session will also include a discussion on
the practical aspects of establishing a successful PET-MR facility,
covering workflow considerations, multidisciplinary collaboration,
infrastructure planning, and regulatory factors essential for long-term
sustainability and clinical impact.
Target Audience
MRI radiographers and technologists.
Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
• Describe the clinical indications and imaging protocols used in PET-MR
of the prostate;
• Understand the interpretation of PET-MR findings in prostate cancer
through case-based examples to improve diagnostic confidence; and
• Identify the key components and challenges involved in setting up and
maintaining a successful PET-MR practice.

Impact: PSMA PET/MRI combines molecular and anatomical
imaging for prostate cancer evaluation. It excels in
high-risk staging, biochemical recurrence detection, and
therapy planning.
