Call for SMRT Nominations and Award Candidates

Vera Kimbrell, B.S., R.T.(R)(MR)
SMRT Past-President; Chair, Nominations and Awards Committees

“As a member of the SMRT it is your professional responsibility to actively participate in the future direction of our society.”

Dear SMRT Members,

On behalf of the Nominating Committee I invite members of the SMRT to nominate individuals for membership of the Policy Board (four positions) and for President-Elect (one position) by 1 September 2013. To be eligible for selection, the nominee must have been an SMRT member for a minimum of two years. These positions are vital to our organizations and the volunteers who serve determine the course our society takes moving forward. I encourage you all to think carefully and thoughtfully about the need for and selection of candidates for these roles.

Policy Board positions are three-year terms which will take effect from the SMRT Annual Business Meeting to be held 16 May 2014 in Milan, Italy and will conclude at the 2017 Annual Business Meeting.

Nominees for President Elect must also have served on the Policy Board. The President-Elect will serve a three-year term as President-Elect, President and Past-President, also commencing May 2014.

Each year the SMRT recognizes the achievements of those who have made significant contributions to the SMRT and to the MR community. As Chair of the Awards Committee I invite members to submit nominations for the following awards:

Crues-Kressel Award
For outstanding contributions to the education of MR technologists

Fellow of the Section Award
For significant and substantial contributions to the mission of the SMRT and contributions to the development of the Section

Distinguished Service Award
For outstanding contributions and level of effort and service to the Section

Honorary Member Award
In recognition of extraordinary achievement and an exceptional level of service and support for the Section and mission of the SMRT

As a member of the SMRT it is your professional responsibility to actively participate in the future direction of our society. Nominating and voting are important functions for members of our society.

Please contact me for instructions or questions about the nomination process. Nominations should be submitted directly to me at bvdmiller@me.com  or to Jennifer Olson at jennifer@ismrm.org.
