Hello to all our members from the Education Committee! It is that time of year to turn your minds towards writing an abstract to submit for a poster or oral presentation at our next Annual Meeting in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The deadline for submissions this year is 10 December, 2014. Please go to our website for further information which will guide you through the process. If you would like access to a mentor to obtain some expert and experienced opinions and assistance, please go to http://www.ismrm.org/smrt/about/mentorship-program/. Abstract submission is a great way to become more involved in your SMRT. If you have never submitted previously, try seeking out an interested colleague and writing an abstract together. Having an abstract accepted for either an oral or poster presentation at our International meeting can be very rewarding professionally and may provide some leverage to access funding from your institution to attend. The best abstract submitted will be awarded the prestigious President’s Award and the winner will receive a prize of US$800. The best student abstract will be awarded the John A. Koveleski Award for Professional Development and the winner of this award will receive US$600. Check whether you are eligible to apply for this category at (Link to new JAK flyer). Prizes will also be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Research and Clinical categories for both oral and poster presentations. Our Program Chair, Chris Kokkinos, has put together a very comprehensive program of great speakers and topics for our 2015 meeting. This year we have the added benefit of some extra break-out sessions in order to cover as many areas of interest as possible. So get working on those abstracts now and plan your visit to Toronto next May – it will be a very worthwhile experience as well as being professionally rewarding. We hope to see you there. |
