Guide to Accessing SMRT Video Home Studies

The SMRT currently has 102 accredited video home studies at the website http://www.ismrm.org/smrt. This is a SMRT member benefit, included in the annual membership fee. The accreditation is conducted by the SMRT acting as a RCEEM (Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism) for the ARRT. Category A credits are assigned to each, which can be used to maintain one’s ARRT advanced registry. SMRT Home Studies are also approved for AIR (Australian Institute of Radiography), NZIMRT (New Zealand Institute of Radiation Technology) and CPD Now (The College of Radiographers, United Kingdom) continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

The majority of these educational videos come from the SMRT Annual Meeting and from the parent society, the ISMRM Annual Meeting. The presentations include all those from the entire two days of the SMRT meeting beginning with Montreal (2011) and continuing through Melbourne (2012), Salt Lake City (2013), and Milan (2014). There is a comprehensive list of topics including neuro, body, cardiac and musculoskeletal imaging plus physics and principles of new techniques and applications. We are currently in the process of adding the presentations given at the Annual Meeting in Toronto (2015).

The Chair of the SMRT Education Committee and the Home Studies Editor select the presentations from the ISMRM Annual Meeting. These are chosen dependent upon their educational value for the members of the SMRT as opposed to those given as purely scientific abstracts from research studies.

Accreditation is provided to those SMRT members who were not present at the Annual Meeting by means of a quiz included with each of the video home studies. I would like to acknowledge those terribly productive individuals who have assisted me in this process of writing the quizzes for each of these video home studies in addition to conducting their own responsibilities and duties as chairs of various committees on the SMRT Policy Board and Executive Committee: Rhonda Walcarius from Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Sheryl Foster from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; Vanessa Orchard from Glasgow, Scotland, UK; Cindy Comeau from Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA; Anna Simeonov from Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Colleen Hammond from East Lansing, Michigan, USA; and Bobbie Burrow from Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Please follow these instructions to assist you in locating the many video home studies available to you as a member of the SMRT. From the SMRT website, select 'Home Studies' from the banner at the top (circled in red).

The next screen requests the member's 'Username' and 'Password'. The 'Username' is the SMRT membership number and the 'Password' is your last name; then select 'Submit'. If you do not know your member number, please contact the ISMRM/SMRT office in Berkeley, California at (510) 841-1899 or email to info@ismrm.org.

We next arrive at the website that contains all of the educational material (http://ismrm.mycrowdwisdom.com/diweb/home). Taking the direct route to the SMRT home studies, please select 'Catalog' on the top banner.

A list appears that includes all home studies, video and pdf, ordered with most recent last. The icons differentiate the type of home study: video versus pdf. It is a subtle difference. The 'video' icon looks like a small piece of video film inside a house; the 'pdf' icon says 'pdf' in very small font.

To display a list of video home studies only, please go to the bottom left and select 'Video Home Studies'.

Now the list will include only the video home studies, arranged with most recent last. Some of the video home studies appear as single presentations while others may be grouped into three or four as a forum.

To get to the last page to see the most recent additions, please go to the bottom of the page and select the last number.
