Katrin Koziel, R.T. (R)(CT)(MR)(NukMed)(Radiotherapie)
Mannheim, BW, Germany

Katrin Koziel began her career in Radiology by graduating in 2001 from the school of medical technologists at the clinic of Ludwigshafen am Rhein gGmbH. Her work experience began in October 2001 at the Department of Clinical Radiology, Großhadern, Munich, where she worked for four years in conventional radiography, specialized in orthopaedic radiography and computer tomography.

Then in 2005 Katrin made her first steps into MRI and was immediately fascinated with the possibilities and future promises this modality opened in clinical everyday work. But it wasn’t until her change of jobs to the Institute of Clinical Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University Medical Centre Mannheim that she could work continuously in the MRI department.

In 2009 Katrin was made aware of SMRT and sent her first abstract to the ISMRM/SMRT meeting in Hawaii. Since then she regularly attends the annual meeting and became a member of SMRT in 2012. With her Institute being a reference centre for Siemens Health Care, Katrin is able to help test and revise new developments in sequences and techniques first tested in clinical environment.

In 2013 she was chosen to replace the leading technician and has joined her more experienced colleague in a dual leadership for the departments of MRI, x-ray (including angiography and mammography) and research. She was happy to be chosen to serve on the education committee in 2013 and continues to do so today. Katrin is honoured to have received the nomination to the SMRT Policy Board and feels her passion for education, exploiting and the revision of new developments in MRI will make her an asset to the organization.
