Travel & Nearby Housing Information

Attendee ID & Vaccination Requirements from the NIH:

1. Identification: A government-issued ID* is required and must be brought by each attendee every day for security screening.
     * Passport or (if from the USA) a state-issued Driver’s License

2. Vaccination: Either proof of vaccination or, for those who are not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of each visit. Non-vaccinated attendees will be processed as a daily visitor each day at Gateway Visitor’s Center.

Airports

There are two major airports near Bethesda:

Transportation

Public transportation is offered through the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Trips and fares from either airport can be calculated via the online Trip Planner. Both train and bus travel are available through the planner.

Taxi service is available at both airports.
