The New York City metropolitan area is served by three primary airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in southern Queens, LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in northern Queens, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in Newark, NJ. They are managed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Railway Stations

From New York Penn Station (32nd Street and Seventh Avenue) it is a brisk 26-minute walk or a 10- to 15-minute ride (taxi or rideshare) to NYU Langone Health. The train station provides rail access for train services nationwide as well as Amtrak’s Acela trains, commuter trains for many Long Island and New Jersey locations, and connects to the 1,2,3, and A,C, E subway trains and local bus lines.

From Grand Central Terminal and its Grand Central subway station (42nd Street and Park Avenue South), it is a brisk 20-minute walk or 10-minute ride (taxi or rideshare) to NYU Langone Health. The train station provides rail access to Connecticut and Hudson Valley and connects to the 4, 5, 6, and 7 and S subway trains and local bus lines.

Taxis

Taxis (yellow cabs) cruise the streets of the city, mostly in Manhattan, and are easily available at almost any hour. The city has made a big effort to improve taxi services in the past several years and cabs are generally considered a very convenient, fast, and efficient way to navigate the city. Metered fares start at $2.50. Additional charges will include surcharges and fees as listed on the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission website here.

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) has implemented a pilot program allowing licensed E-hail providers to offer upfront pricing in all participating yellow and green taxicabs. In addition to metered fares, passengers riding in Medallion taxicabs and Street Hail Liveries (SHLs) will now have the option to receive binding fare quotes when completing an E-Hail request. Do not make use of unlicensed taxis if you would like a safe, hassle-free trip. Official drivers do not stand inside the terminal nor ask if you need a cab.

Car Service & Ride Shares

A number of transportation services, including private car services and app-based ride services such as Uber and Lyft are available at all three of the above airports.

Uber and Lyft are available through their mobile apps. Please wait until you have exited the terminal and are at the Car Service pick-up area for your terminal before booking.

To make a reservation for a private car service, please visit the airport Welcome Centers, which are located on the arrivals level of each terminal.

If the counter is closed, there is a convenient self-serve kiosk nearby where you can select from and contact an authorized private car or shared ride services to reserve your ride.
