Overview & Program

Workshop Overview

This workshop will focus on both the technical aspects of PET/MRI as well as the clinical utility of PET/MRI. We will have sessions on technical developments such as novel MR attenuation correction techniques and approaches to motion correction. We will also have focused sessions based on body parts for clinical and research applications (neuro, GU/gyn, cardiac, etc). Other sessions will highlight radiotracers to demonstrate how non-FDG tracers can be leveraged in novel ways using PET/MRI. We will also highlight AI's increasingly important role in improving PET acquisition and reconstruction (including ultra-low dose) and diagnosis (post-processing segmentation and diagnosis). We will include sessions on how to help develop multi-center trials, and to facilitate this, we will have breakout sessions based on disease type for participants to work in small groups to discuss the need and possibly design multi-center trials. The workshop will feature a mixture of invited scientific presentations, proffered papers, a poster session, small group discussions, and a keynote lecture. Lastly, an award will be presented to students and early-stage post-doctoral researchers or physicians who will be selected from the oral paper presentations.

Target Audience

Clinicians, researchers, staff, technologists and students working on PET/MRI.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the challenge of attenuation correction in PET/MRI and the various approaches being developed to solve this problem;
  • Illustrate the use of MR in aiding in PET motion correction;
  • Identify prior and ongoing efforts to quantify the arterial input function from PET/MR images;
  • Explain the clinical use of PET/MRI and its near-term clinical applications; and
  • Recognize the important role of AI in improving both PET imaging acquisition and diagnosis.
