I am currently employed as a Senior Magnetic Resonance Imaging radiographer at the Cape Universities Body Imaging Centre – University of Cape Town (CUBIC- UCT), in South Africa. CUBIC is a leading medical imaging research facility with the vision to focus on problems specific to SA and the African continent. This is where I was first Introduced to MRI, research and clinical, which provided inspiration and impetus to further my studies. I am currently enrolled for Master’s in radiographer degree, investigating: “Impact of Pericardial and Paracardiac Fat on the Cardiovascular Structure and Function in HIV Infected Person: A CMR Study”.

This lecture is an introduction to the outline of Japanese MRI Technologist. That is, most Japanese MRI technologist work in hospitals as a radiological technologist. Clinical MRI examinations in Japan are very popular; therefore, almost all MRI technologist in hospital are very busy. MRI Technologists’ academic activities are joining the association, congress, and submitting the papers. I introduce the Japanese MR research including my study. Fujita Health University is just starting new initiatives. “Cooperation between the university and the affiliated hospital”. I strongly hope that Japanese MRI Technologists will continue research that can contribute to medical treatment.
