Session Number: M-01

Session Number: M-01

Overview
This session highlights cardiovascular diseases that are relevant across all age groups including cardiomyopathies, cardio-oncology, and congenital heart disease. It covers technologies that are applicable to the heart diseases from fetal life to old age.

Target Audience
M.D.s and Ph.D.s interested in clinically applicable technology for the assessment of cardiovascular disease affecting all ages: from antenatal to pediatric to young adult to adult.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify which diseases span across age groups;
- Select research participants across age groups;
- Employ the appropriate CMR techniques for the patient age;
- Apply new technology for patient benefit across all age groups; and
- Recall which novel technologies to invest in for patient benefit across the lifespan of the patient.

In this talk, I will give an overview of important aspects of Cardiac MRI processing by the help of advanced deep learning techniques. Our main clinical focus are Tetralogy of Fallot and Duchenne muscular dystrophy cases. When analyzing heterogenous CMR from multiple sites, automatic interpatient motion comparison requires spatial and temporal alignment of the CMR sequences. I show how to align the volume sequences by self-supervised AI methods, which do not require any expert labels. Cardiac phase-to-phase registration is realized by deformable registration models, that automatically derive a displacement field for calculating cardiac strain values.
